Restaurants Have Shown Incredible Resilience
As I meet more and more restaurant industry advisors and technology players in the industry, many have warned me that restaurants are typically laggards. The implication is that they are not able to adapt very easily and resist change. That may have been true in the past, but it seems to me that the industry has shown incredible adaptability and resilience over the last 2 years as the pandemic has forced them to change the way they do business.
I have heard stories about restaurants that are managing multiple tablets in their kitchens so that they could stay on top of all of the new delivery companies. They are also improving their own websites, implementing digital ordering technology and channel managers to make the delivery ordering process more seamless. Restaurants should be commended for how much change and technology they have taken on in order to survive the pandemic.
We have already found clients that are interested in testing dynamic pricing for restaurants. It is going to require an open mind and a willingness to try new things, but we strongly believe that the end result will be very profitable for our clients and for the industry as a whole.
